Bracklesham Garage

From Saab Specialists, To the Saab Social Sponsors

Their story began in 1978, when the founder started his career at Shore Road Garage, a Saab dealership, at just 15 years old as an apprentice technician. In 1984, the business moved to new premises at Johnstons Saab in Bosham — later known as Lewis Saab — where he continued to build his specialist knowledge and reputation within the Saab community.

Motorsport has always been part of their heritage. Racing activities began in the late 1980s with the Saab 900 Turbo, competing in the Duckhams Road Saloon Car Championship. In 1985, the team became involved in the Saab Mobil Challenge, working as mechanics for driver John Llewelyn.

During this period, they also collaborated with Nicholson McLaren to develop high-performance racing cylinder heads for Saab 900 Turbos. These were used not only in competition cars but were also supplied to customers as specialist performance upgrades — reflecting a long-standing commitment to engineering, innovation, and Saab expertise.
